Established in the mid 1960’s, Lakeway is nestled in the western corner of Travis County, Lakeway is ideally situated on the south shore of Lake Travis in the scenic Texas Hill Country. Located about 25 miles west of downtown Austin, Lakeway is a resort community complete with golf courses, tennis courts, marinas, a private airport, a full-service hotel and spa, a 65-mile long lake, 100 acres of parkland and trails, and nearly 500 acres of greenbelts. Families, empty nesters and young professionals are drawn to the “lake lifestyle”, the city’s award-winning parks and recreation programs and facilities, and Lake Travis ISD’s renowned schools. It is considered one of the finest small cities in the Austin metro area.

Old Lakeway | Old Lakeway is geographically defined by the boundaries of the original 17 sections and first 1,000 acres of Lakeway, developed between October 1962 and April 1971, by Lakeway Land Co. In 2017, street signs, featuring the original Lakeway logo, were added at each intersection in the neighborhood delineating the area.

The location later became the site of the Heard cattle ranch where today, the area serves as a luxury residential community for single-family homes. Serene Hills is committed to preserving the area's historical value and native Texas wildlife, encouraging conservation efforts. Of the 456 total acres in Serene Hills, only 114 are open to development.

Lakeway City Park | Lakeway City Park provides 64-acres of well maintained parkland for the residents of Lakeway and their guests. The park is located at 502 Hurst Creek Road and can be reached by water from Hurst Creek Cove on Lake Travis. There are many things to do at City Park. With nearly two miles of trails, there is plenty of room for everyone from leisurely walkers to vigorous joggers and kids on bicycles or roller blades. For those who want to enjoy the park at a slower pace, the Butterfly Garden is a perfect place to spend the afternoon. Visit the Bark Park with your dog and make new friends. During the warmer months, when the lake level is up, City Park is a great place for several different water activities. For the younger set, City Park offers two different play areas. The playscape by the main entrance is designed for toddlers, ages 2 - 5. There is a play area near the lower level for school-aged children with a basketball hoop. Picnics are always fun in the park for both large and small groups.

Eggstravaganza! | Happy Easter, Happy Spring from the City of Lakeway! We celebrate the season with Eggstravaganza! at City Park, located at 502 Hurst Creek Road. Bring your basket! The event will begin at 2:00 p.m. Age specific egg hunts will begin at 2:45 p.m. with the 7-8 year-olds going first, followed by the 5-6 year-old group. We will have the hunt for the 3-4 year-olds around 3:00 and cheer on the 1-2 year-olds after that. Children from the area are invited to participate in all the festivities which will include a petting zoo, a cookie decorating craft sponsored by HEB, mural coloring, spin art, a visit from the Easter Bunny, and glitter tattoo artists. Snow cones from IceCream2U will be available for purchase.

July 4th Celebration | Independence Day is the City’s biggest celebration of the year. Come and enjoy Lakeway’s famous old-fashioned July 4th Celebration. We have activities for the whole family. The City of Lakeway will kick off a day-long July 4th Celebration on July 4th and the traditional schedule of activities which includes a festive parade,

the Pageantry of the Flags ceremony featuring patriotic music and a keynote address from our Grand Marshal and Parade winners will be announced at the ceremony.
